Delhi Race Club
Horse racing in Delhi was first held under the direction of the Delhi Race Club at its present location on 8th March 1926 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. In the early days it operated more as a gymkhana club, with events staged on an oval course, but during the Second World War the Indian Air Force took over part of the course and the track was redesigned in the shape of a horseshoe, appropriate for racing but unique throughout the world. On 29th April 1959 the Delhi Race Club changed its operation to facilitate the rules of the Royal Western India Turf Club.

Currently the racecourse offers 50 race days annually, with the principal races being the North India Derby, a Group 3 event, the North India 2000 Guineas, the Northern India Cup, the Chairman Emeritus Cup, the Sohra Stud Million and the Global Stud Farm Million.
